フランス本土より２００キロ近く離れた地中海西部に位置する島、コルシカ島。フランス皇帝ナポレオン・ボナパルトが生誕した地としても知られるこの島で現在、松井守男は制作活動を行っている。
コルシカに居を構えた松井は、その自然をモチーフに、面相筆による非常に細かなタッチを大画面に重ね描くといった作風を確立した。精力的な活動を続ける松井に対する評価は２００３年、思わぬ形で結実することになる。それはフランス最高位とされるレジオン・ドヌール勲章の受勲である。渡仏して３６年、誰の目にも明らかなその制作活動、作品世界への評価であったといえる。
現在も松井守男はコルシカの地にて制作活動を行っている。今年愛知において開催される「愛・地球博（愛知万博）」のフランス・ドイツ共同パビリオンのオープニングを飾る貴賓室への作品展示も最近の活動の華々しい一端として知られるところである。
本展では、総計８６点前後を公開。その中には幅４m前後の油彩画や、レジオン・ドヌール勲章受勲を記念して描かれた作品も含まれている。受勲以前の作品から、現在の活動をかいま見ることができる作品まで、松井守男の作品世界を紹介するに十分な内容構成となっている。 |

Corsica Island
is located in the west part of the Mediterranean, only 200
km away from mainland France. It is known as a birthplace
of Napole´on Bonaparte, and this is where Mr. Morio Matsui
continues to work.
He has established his own painting style of painting, which
is to paint thousands of fine strokes to fill in a large picture
plane. In 2003, he received L’Order National de La Legion
D’Honneur, known as the most prestigious award in France.
Thus, his energetic work and the world of his painting were
recognized after 36 years since his arrival in France.
Today Mr. Matsui continues to work in Corsica. His recent
exhibitions include the exhibition of his work at the VIP
room at France-Germany pavilion at EXPO 2005 Aichi Japan.
The exhibition “Matsui Morio: Living in Corsica, Loving his
Country” introduces about 86 works, including large-scale
oil paintings of 4 meters in width and the work that won L’Order
National de La Legion D’Honneur. The exhibition invites the
viewers to fully enjoy the world of Mr. Matsui’s work, featuring
works made both prior to and after receiving the award. |
